Destination Wedding Tips for Getting Married in Italy
Would you like to get married in Italy? Italy is a fantastic destination for unforgettable weddings. Each region has its unique traditions, food, and wine. You need to know some essential tips for getting married in Italy.
-
Start planning early
Italy is one of the world’s most popular wedding destinations, so venues and suppliers book up quickly. Especially if you decide to get married from May to September, start planning at least 12–18 months in advance.
-
Visit the location (if you can)
If possible, make a pre-wedding trip to visit venues, meet key suppliers, and do food and wine tastings. We can organize your pre-wedding trip, but if you can’t travel before your wedding, my assistance will be essential.
You can visit the venues virtually and get to know the suppliers via video call. The wedding planner will be your assistant in creating your wedding. The trust will be basic between you and me.
-
Understand the legal requirements
Italy has specific legal paperwork for foreign couples who will get married in the Bel Paese. We can help you with legal paperwork or church requirements.
-
Consider your guests’ experience
Help your guests enjoy their trip by providing travel info, accommodation options, and local recommendations. Welcome bags with maps, snacks, or Italian goodies are always appreciated. We can design with you with these details; it will be an authentic Italian experience for your guests!
-
Embrace Italian culture
Incorporate local traditions, like aperitivo, Italian wedding favors (bomboniere), or a gelato cart, and highlight regional food and wines to create an authentic and unforgettable experience. Would you like to create it with our help?
-
Hire a bilingual planner
Language barriers can be a challenge. A bilingual wedding planner or on-site coordinator ensures smooth communication with local suppliers and a stress-free experience for your guests. We speak English and we will look for suppliers who speak English.
-
Plan for the weather
Italian summers can be hot, especially in the south. Have a backup plan for outdoor ceremonies (tents, shaded areas) and keep your guests cool with water stations, fans (inside the wedding bag, for example), or welcome drinks. It’s fundamental to create a plan A and B for your wedding.
